Faint Light in the Unfinished Buildings is a representative work by photographer Chu Weimin that marks his transition from landscape photography to social documentary. It received an Honorable Mention in the Asia category at the 66th World Press Photo Contest. Traveling to stalled residential projects across Xi’an, Zhengzhou, Qingdao and other cities, the photographer documents, through restrained night-time imagery, the living realities of ordinary homebuyers trapped in uncompleted residences amid China’s real estate adjustment cycle.
